Looks like another gorgeous day. We'll set out later for the run to Newport, where we'll be spending Memorial Day weekend.
Heading out to Long Island Sound around 9:30am - nice calm seas all day.
Coming into Newport Harbor
Our slip is on the other side of the large sailboat
The guys finishing up the tie-up ...
We're at the Brown and Howard Marina - great location, with just a short walk to town. BUT ... it was quite an afternoon, as the marina is NOT the full service marina as shown on their website - as in, no restrooms, shower, laundry. When we finally got a hold of the owner/manager, his response was "This isn't Florida - I supply electricity and water, that's it." Needless to say, that lead to a rather colorful discussion with Lou. All was sorted out, as Gary (who sells Ocean Alexander Yachts and has his office at the marina) helped us into the slip and went out of his way to help us get situated. The marina owner then called back and apologized, as he looked up the Internet advertisement for the marina - long story, but there is a huge disconnect between the Marina and the Residential Developer for the site. Oh well - it will make a great story for years to come.
Just think you're both a year older since you started ... nah ... don't even think about it! :) Rhode Island was my state in Miss Virginia's room!
ReplyDeleteI like the pic with the sun coming up!
Hope the Owner/Manager could swim after Lou's 'splaining things to him.
